At 12:11 p.m., a patrolman was responding to a call of a suspicious person wearing a mask and gloves on Wilshire Drive, Kenilworth police said.
The officer expedited his response due to the heightened state of alertness for occupied home burglaries, police said. While responding to the call and using lights and sirens, the officer collided with another vehicle and a telephone pole at Boulevard and Coolidge Drive, police said.
The patrolman was taken to Overlook Hospital and was released, police said. The other driver was not injured, police said.
